Nick in Launceston

Nick vs Starn, Flames of War, 1500 Points each. Nick's German Sperrverband vs Starns Russian Strelkovy. Scenario was a cauldron, with Starn defending.

Starn had some atrocious luck -- his AT guns were killed on the first turn without firing a shot by German artillery. The Russian artillery missed all through the game. And the soviet airforce flew about a lot, but they couldnt find the bomb release button ...
However, eventually Starn's platoon of KV-85 tanks arrived - -causing heart palpitations for Nick. Picture is Starn triumphally bringing them onboard. The KV's made short work of some German Stugs. But eventually one fell to the German artillery. At that point everything german rushed the remaining two, and they fell in a hail of lead. If the lead hadnt got them, the assault by panzerfaust armed infantry would have!!
With the loss of the KV-85s the Rssians had to take an army morale test each turn. It was only a matter of time, and Starn conceded.
There was also apparently a good game between Doug and someone else, but your reporter was too engrossed in his own game!
